English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are offered to help non-native speakers to communicate in English through the development of skills in listening and observing, speaking, reading, and writing. At the beginning level, emphasis is on improving listening comprehension, vocabulary development, and English structure. The courses advance to notetaking, composition, oral presentation, and class discussion at the more advanced levels. An ESL Skills Lab provides additional opportunities for individualized practice in listening, pronunciation, reading and writing. Classes (for eligible students) are offered both day (8am, 9am, 11am, 12pm Monday through Friday) and evening (6-8:20pm Monday through Thursday). The total tuition fee for each quarter (for non-College Preparatory classes) is $25.

All of our class outcomes are tied to the Washington State Learning Standards found here: http://www.sbctc.ctc.edu/college/_e-abe_learningstandards.aspx. For more specifics on what will be taught in each class, our course outlines can be found here: https://sites.google.com/a/seattlecentral.edu/btsd/esl-course-outlines-1
