Welcome to Seattle Central Community College

We are proud to be Seattle’s first community college. Since 1966, the college has served the higher education and training needs of more than 500,000 students. Seattle Central offers certificate programs, associate degree programs and a four-year baccalaureate degree in Applied Behavioral Science.

On a personal note, I have been president of Seattle Central for seven years and associated with the college for more than 30 years. It has been my great honor to be a part of the Seattle Central family and to witness that thousands of lives that have been transformed over the years.

2010 will be my final year as president of Seattle Central. I have announced my retirement, effective March 15, 2010. Mr. Gary Oertli will serve as interim president until a new president is appointed. Gary currently serves as the interim president at South Seattle Community College, and is well-acquainted with the Central campus as well. Chancellor Jill Wakefield intends to perform a national search for my replacement. A campus-wide search committee will be assembled, comprised of representatives from the faculty, classified and exempt staff, and administration. The committee will be led by Joan Ray, Seattle Central’s vice-president for student development and services.

Dr. Wakefield, Joan Ray, and her team will be working hard to select a candidate before the Fall 2010 academic quarter. The next president will inherit a campus that is vibrant and full of opportunity.

Please take time to explore our college. Whether you want to pursue a second career, begin your college education, or prepare to transfer to a four-year college, we have a place for you.

Sincerely,

Mildred W. Ollée, Ed.D
