Entrance Requirements

  • See Curriculum Prerequisites
  • The minimum grade acceptable in each required course is a 2.5.
  • Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) test with an overall adjusted/individual total score at or above 75%.
  • Successful completion of an NAC Program with a valid license (Highly recommended for Fall 2010, Required for Fall 2011). Now offered at SCCC during spring and summer quarters.

Procedure for Admission

  • Admissions:

    All new students must fill out and Application for Admission. You can either:
  • Testing:

    Arrange to take the COMPASS placement and TEAS tests. Must be eligible for MAT 107. Contact the Testing Office at 206 587-6344. Applicants to SCCC Nursing are required to complete standardized pre-admission testing. The TEAS contains four subjects: Math, Science, English and Reading. Applicants must achieve an overall composite score at or above the 75th percentile to be considered for admissions.
    There is a $50.00 fee for the test. $25.00 is paid directly to ATI Assessment Testing by the applicant. The applicant must bring the paid receipt to the testing office when arranging the testing. (see the TEAS Testing website)
  • Transcripts:

    Submit official high school transcript or GED and any college transcripts. (Transcripts from North or South campus may be unofficial.) Students having previously earned credits in science/general education courses must apply for petition to have their credits evaluated and accepted for transfer. This process takes 6-8 weeks, but can vary depending on the time of year and is the responsibility of the applicant to meet the deadlines.
  • Advising:

    Meet with the Intake Advisor for Workforce Education if you have questions related to the prerequisite classes or the transcript evaluation results. PLEASE NOTE: There is a non-refundable ADN Program Ready Application processing fee of $35.00 for all students applying to this program.

After Acceptance

  1. Student criteria to meet employers expectations for performance in the clinical setting. Assessment and immunization records MUST be on file in the ADN Program Office by the deadline given in the acceptance letter. Specific forms/information will be provided during registration for the program.
  2. In accordance with health facility affiliation agreements, upon acceptance to the program students must complete the background check by Verified Credentials at www.myvci.com/seattlecentral following program procedures. There is a charge of $60.00 for this service. All information is kept confidential. Students should be aware that certain convictions may prevent their clinical placement and employment, and that completion of this program does not guarantee certification, licensure or employment.

Advanced Placement

Students who have taken nursing education courses within the past three years and who meet the prerequisite and grade requirements for Seattle Central's program, may be considered for advanced placement. Nursing courses over three years old will not be considered for transfer. A minimum of one quarter prior to intended enrollment, applicants for advanced placement must submit to the ADN Program Director a letter of intent, unofficial copies of transcripts, nursing course content descriptions, and a letter of recommendation from the Dean/Director of the Nursing Program attended. Students seeking advanced placement must successfully complete a placement test and a Lab Skills Check- Off prior to acceptance into the program. Students who meet the requirements will be accepted on a space-available basis after evaluation.

LPN-RN Transition

License Practical Nurses who possess an unencumbered Washington State license, have completed the prerequisites and first-year support courses with a minimum grade of 2.5 in each course, and meet admission criteria may enter the second year of the ADN Program after successful completion of the one-quarter transition courses, NUR 106 and 120.
